Anesthesia Boot Camp

The Anesthesia Boot Camp is ideally suited for doctor / technician teams, but is also great for individuals. In just two and a half days in the Level I, II, III, and IV classes, you and your staff can learn many of the techniques needed to provide very high quality care for most cases encountered in small animal practice. Level 1 provides 8 hours of CE credit. This is a full day of didactic lecture and discussion starting at 8a-5p. Topics include:
Level 2 provides 4 hours of CE via didactic instruction from 8a-12p. Topics include:
  • Considerations for the geriatric patient
  • Hemodynamic approach to the cardiac patient
  • The hemodynamically unstable patient

  • Level 3 provides a final 4 hours of CE in a live animal setting from 1p-5p. Animals are anesthetized by participants utilizing a variety of premedication and induction techniques. This allows actual visualization of what our drug protocols actually do to our patients. Prior to undergoing ovariohysterectomy or orchiectomy, participants have the opportunity to practice arterial catheterization, and epidural administration. There is almost constant discussion of monitoring as our patients change depth of anesthesia. Blood gas analysis is performed on many of the patients to document some of the principles described in the classroom setting. Typically, there are no more than 2-3 participants per anesthetized animal. Continuing education credits are provided through the State of Colorado.

Level 4 is brand new to our Anesthesia Boot Camp. It's primary focus is on acute and chronic pain management.

Level 4 provides 4 hours of CE via didactic instruction from 8a-12p. Topics Include:
  • Drugs
  • Nutracueticals
  • Therapeutic Laser
  • Target Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy
  • Other Modalities

We will provide breakfast and lunch on both days, so bring your appetite. You will also receive your lecture notes at the beginning of your first session.
